Current interview and interrogation instruction too often relies on techniques that feel intuitive but fail under legal and scientific scrutiny. Investigative interviewing deserves the same modernization cycle and audit rigor applied to use-of-force, tactical operations, and other legally exposed disciplines. My work focuses on ensuring that the skills and methods used in the interview room can withstand the standards later applied in the courtroom. I authored a position paper explaining why interview techniques that cannot survive Daubert-level scrutiny should not be taught, used, or defended — regardless of how common, familiar, or longstanding they may be.
